Evaluative diplomas for the French language
The DELF and the DALF are the official diplomas granted by the French Ministry of National Education in order to validate and certify foreign persons' proficiency in the French language. The DELF and the DALF are comprised of 6 independent diplomas, each corresponding to one of the six levels of the European Reference Framework for Languages.
The Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) is also administered by the French Ministry of National Education. Simple and fast, it allows foreigners to evaluate and certify their general level of French proficiency. Often required by French Universities, a good score on the TCF can allow one access to the more advanced material of the DELF.
