Adult courses

ESL students have the option of enrolling for various French language courses of different levels of intensiveness and of a length of their choice (two weeks minimum). The following courses are offered:

  • Standard: 20 periods of group study per week
  • Intensive: 20 periods of group study per week + one specific module of 5 periods of group study (exam preparation or conversation)
  • Super intensive: 30 periods of group study per week or 20 periods of group study and 8 periods of individual tuition
  • Individual courses: Modules of 5 or 15 periods of individual tuition (may be combined with courses cited above)
  • A la carte courses

A period of tuition lasts 45 minutes for group study and 60 minutes for individual lessons. The maximum number of students in a group is 12. Groups are formed on the basis of participants' level of language competence.

New students can join courses every Monday (except for long-term courses and complete beginners - start date on first Monday of the month).

Before arriving at the school, each student must complete a questionnaire issued by ESL to determine level and study aims. These aims are discussed and refined further on the student's arrival in order to draw up an individual study programme.

A weekly evaluation confirms knowledge gained and measures the progress made by each student. The teaching aims to increase both spoken and written communication skills as much as possible by relying on the latest French language teaching methods as well as on the professionalism of the teaching staff.

A course certificate is issued at the end of the course providing to the student who has attended the course regularly. Students have the option at ESL to request and pay for a test confirming their level against a European framework of levels of attainment (TCF or TEF).
