The region of Basse-Normandie is renowned for its climate, its meadows, tourist and historic beaches (site of the June 1944 Normandy landings), as well as for its gastronomy, its cheeses, cider and calvados.
Developed in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, Caen is a town with a rich culture, combining monuments from its medieval past and the comforts of a modern urban environment. An administrative and university centre close to Paris (two hours by train or motorway), the town is also a sea port with the Caen-Ousitreham canal and daily car ferry sailings to the British Isles.
The "Centre d'Enseignement du Français pour Etrangers" is distinguished by the fact that its provision is dedicated both to the teaching of the French language and to training for a university diploma in various specialisms. All the technical support necessary is provided for students to facilitate their studies and to make their stay easier, including foreign satellite channels via the multimedia library and free internet access.
A team of 10 administrators and more than 40 teaching staff train and assist around 2000 foreign students, who pass through our Centre each year.
Before the start of each semester, our staff take responsibility for the students for a few days to help them with the administrative procedures involved in university enrolment, requesting a residence permit and opening a bank account.
A programme for introducing students to the campus, town and region is also offered at the same time.
For short-stay groups and courses, a welcome programme is also arranged in response to needs and requests.
